kelly aboutAbout Kelly Walker

Kelly and her husband have made Kelowna their home for more than two decades. Originally from the Okanagan, born in Vernon, she is very happy to be home in the Okanagan Valley. She is a very proud mom of her adult children, and was so often in the past, found cheering at her son’s BC Premier Baseball League games or enjoying her daughter’s dancing shows and competitions. Wherever they go in the world, they will always be missed from home yet will always be supported for their choices.

Personally, she enjoys perennial and vegetable gardening at home and loves cooking with those ingredients that grow in their sunshine-filled garden. Kelly is also enjoying a keen interest in genealogy to trace her family history and family history of others too.

Volunteering

There are so many opportunities available for everyone to volunteer. Kelly has made time to help out in her community in a number of capacities so far and will continue with this trend. She is the past treasurer for the Kelowna & District Genealogical Society for a decade and has also been the treasurer for Les Petits Oursons preschool. At schools, Kelly has been a teacher’s assistant in the sewing room, a regular PAC member, a carpool driver for fieldtrips, and has wrapped Christmas presents for challenged families. Kelly is a Telus Community Ambassador as well and has volunteered for various activities in and around Kelowna in that capacity. Nowadays Kelly volunteers as a UBC Alumni mainly at graduation celebrations. Her legacy designation CGA-BC held several events each year that Kelly attended to network with students and as well as has invigilated exams.
